Job Description
Network Engineer based in West Dublin required to maintain and operate a client’s data centre network and to support the operation of the Network.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • First line on-site maintenance on a client’s network, troubleshooting service issues and overall network support.
  • Trouble ticket incident management; resolving P1 and P2 faults as a first priority working alongside and in conjunction with the Data Centre (DC) team.
  • Complete cabling, patching and running fibres for on-going projects and in preparation for night interventions. Document, record and follow up as required.

  • Accurate and timely completion and submission of all required site administration and completion documents as required.
  • Complete QC checks on site and record results accurately using the correct documents.
  • Accurate and timely submission of all payroll data and expense claims in accordance with published processes.
  • Maintain adequate and ‘in date’ personal protective equipment sufficient for all tasks undertaken and ensure that it is used as required at all times.
  • Local primary point of reference for customer’s representatives.
  • Reporting to Field Manager or Project Manager on contract progress and completion.
  • Knowledge, understanding and enforcement of all Policy, Processes and Procedures relating to installation activities.
  • Care and maintenance of company vehicle and be fully compliant with all relevant driver policies.

Senior Telecommunications Technical Support Engineer

Job Description:

As Senior Telecommunications Technical Support Engineer, you will provide technical support to both staff and customers who are working to implement VMware’s VCloud NFV bundle and other related products.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of an individual Telecommunications customer and learn their environment
  • Respond to that customer’s inquiries, primarily via email and telephone
  • Resolve any customer technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting
  • Provide backup to other senior TSE’s for their individual customers in the event that they are unable to
  • Proactively provide suggestions to your customer on ways to improve the stability of their platform
  • Work with the Services Account Manager for your customer to ensure that the customer gets the highest level of support and communication from VMware
  • Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems
  • Document all technical inquiries; develop and review content for knowledgebase
  • Provide training or assistance to junior staff
  • Troubleshoot and engage with engineering on customer reported issues

Requirements:

  • Experience in providing Unix/Linux technical support to enterprise customers
  • Experience designing and/or supporting large enterprise deployments
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX based operating systems including strong CLI skill set and working knowledge of general system and network troubleshooting tools (e.g. WireShark)
  • Good practical working ability with Linux/UNIX utilities, including editors and command shells
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent work experience
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Highly Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in the Telecommunications industry an advantage
  • Hands on experience with VMware ESX Server or VMware products
  • VSAN and NSX experience is an advantage
  • Networking: Excellent understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols including switching technologies, routing fundamentals, IP subnetting, routing, firewalling, load balancers, VPN and network design
  • UNIX kernel diagnostics/debugging (at a level typically found in senior level 2 or level 3 UNIX support staff)
  • Ability to program and debug bash, perl and python scripts
  • Experience with operation and administration of large Windows Server and Desktop Environments
  • Experience in administration of complex Storage Area Networks, including Fibre-channel and Ethernet based protocols
  • Previous exposure to Cloud Management Platforms such as OpenStack, CloudStack, vCAC including Networking enabled by software
  • Familiarly of Clustering Technologies such as MS Cluster Server, Redhat clustering, Oracle RAC
  • Hands-on and working with key technology solution/language/tools e.g. CloudStack, OpenStack, AWS, KVM, libvirt, Chef, Puppet, Python, CMS, DynamicOps, API, etc
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations for short periods up to 5 days in the event that your customer has an emergency situation
  • Ability to develop a long term business relationship with your end customer
