Position: Network Engineer (Build)

Reporting to: Network Build Manager

Qualification: Relevant Electronics/ Telecoms Qualification or equivalent experience

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance of base stations (MW & Antennae systems)
  • Installation, commissioning & Maintenance of digital radio equipment, antenna systems and DC power plant
  • Restoration of all field network elements
  • Competent use of telecommunications test equipment

Main duties & responsibilities:

The Production Engineering team is a specialised supporting team to the wider Support and
Solution Delivery teams. The team supports deployments by reacting to and supplying fixes to
existing software releases.

Position: Senior Professional Services RAN Engineer

 

Job Description:

As a Senior RAN Services Engineer you will provide Technical Support and Services to commercially deployed GSM, 3G and LTE telecommunications networks primarily based on Ericsson solutions. You will troubleshoot technical issues in the Radio Access Network (RAN) and design workarounds and solutions to resolve these issues. You will develop strategies and provide consultation to customers on improving network performance. In some of our deployment roles, you will travel internationally and work in different cultural environments. You will be expected to take responsibility for the successful driving and completion of customer projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems to stabilise and optimise our customers’ networks
  • 2nd and 3rd level incident and problem management
  • Participation in mobile operator network deployment, monitoring and improvement projects
  • Support of new feature introduction in mobile operator networks e.g. mobile broadband
  • Mentoring and sharing knowledge with less experienced engineers
  • Team leading for small groups of engineers
  • Investigation and resolution of network performance degradations
  • Investigation and resolution of configuration faults in mobile operator networks
  • Clarification of expected system behaviour towards mobile operators

Requirements:

  • Candidates for the above role will have broad and deep experience within telecommunications and Data Networks (Ericsson technology primarily), covering areas like hardware, software and network architecture and topologies for GSM, 3G and LTE systems (Core).
  • Considerable experience in deploying and troubleshooting with RAN vendor equipment from Ericsson including O&M, KPI analysis, detailed call tracing and trouble-shooting
  • Proven demonstrable examples of where you have driven complex coordination and technical issues to conclusion, exhibiting a ‘get up and go’ attitude to problem resolution

Scope:

Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager within telecoms or consultancy industries.

You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle delivery of multiple short term projects. Experience in the programme management of new site rollout or site upgrades in a mobile network environment is desirable. A broad knowledge of the acquisition, transmission, radio & operations disciplines would be advantageous.

Role:

  • Managing the rollout interaction with the equipment & services vendor to deliver a complex upgrade program for sites across a mobile network.
  • Drive project delivery through the vendor, identifying issues & resolving as they arise.
  • Manage access issues & other property related escalations from the services vendor.
  • Manage schedule and Control Network Downtimes by reviewing & agreeing the changes submitted under the network change management process.
  • Actively report and forecast delivery to supporting teams such as the transmission planning team.
  • Support incident management process & drive resolution as issues arise.
  • Oversee site integration process & drive efficiency & quality.
  • Capture project delays with a view to future avoidance.
  • Manage a small team of sites design approvers.
